Troubleshooting Questions

If you have any issues with the camera please review the common issues and scenarios below. If you still have trouble, please contact us at the bottom of this page. Generally, with any issues we always recommend
  • Checking your power source
  • Making sure you are using a quality microSD card
    • (Some model SD cards, such as Sandisk Ultra are known to cause issues because they do not support high intensity environments such as video recording.)
  • Formatting SD Card
  • Resetting Camera to Default settings
  • Checking to see if symptoms return

Please make sure that the suction cup is always attached to a non-dotted flat clean surface (cleaned with rubbing alcohol) and has a firm hold onto the window. Also, please make sure that you separate the rubber part from the plastic, using your hands - sometimes it sticks. Once it is separate it will spring and you should be able to stick it down and press on the lever to create suction.
In order to interchange the mounts, you have to slide the sticky mount off and slide the suction cup. Please check the images below.
The account feature is only for units purchased directly on the website.
The HD PRO is equipped with a screensaver feature which turns the screen off to prevent distractions while driving, you can switch this feature off/on by setting the "Backlight Off" function to off/on in the menu. For additional information please see page 13 of our manual: HD PRO User Manual
The camera GPS, is not a navigation system nor a tracking device. The camera will embed the GPS coordinates into metadata of the video file, so you can see the map alongside the video of where you have driven. You can then use www.wheelwitness.com/viewer or www.dashcamviewer.com to play it back alongside the map.

As a first measure of troubleshooting please take these steps:
  1. Please make sure that you are using the original power cord.
  2. Please try formatting the included SD card.
  3. Please reset the unit to default settings in the menu.
Do you have the power cord plugged into the DC IN port of the camera? (Please note that the camera has 2 mini usb plugs, one is a USB port on the side, while the other is the DC IN port at the top of the base.) You are looking for the DC IN port. The camera should turn on automatically once it receives power to the DC IN port. If the power cord is plugged into the USB port on the side, it may cause the camera to shut off after 8/10 seconds. Please make sure to to let the camera charge for a few hours. Once plugged into the DC IN port the camera will automatically power up and be on until the power is cut.

To playback the files on your camera: To playback the files on the unit please press OK to exit recording mode, then press the right bottom Mode button twice, press OK and use the right upper button to scroll through videos, press OK to play. To view the files on your computer: We recommend inserting the SD card directly into your computer and using VLC Player (available for free www.videolan.org). To view the files alongside the map please use the player we have on our website: www.wheelwitness.com/viewer or www.dashcamviewer.com
The camera supports an SD card up to 64GB. We do recommend Kingston or Samsung Evo Class 10 SD cards as in our experience and the experience of our customers, Sandisk cards cause issues for our dash cams as well as other brands of dash cams.
